Ok here’s the story:

I bought a pair of 92 jdm taillights for the gts I was going to buy but then the guy only had the sides and not the middle so then I went to look for a middle piece. While doing so I stumbled unto Craigslist and typed up celica and I found the ad the guy selling the 90 alltrac in coon rapids for $2k and he just posted it 10:30pm. I call him up right after and I asked him if I could check out the car right away (I was scared that someone might pick it up for that cheap) and he said I could take a look at it by 11:30pm so I called up Paul and Angel and I went to meet Paul at Lowes.

We then went to see and test the car out at 11:45ish and then after I threw up a number, $1,400 and he was kind weary then said well he would at least want $1,500. To cut the story short we talked longer, he showed us his nice as heck garage with the rest of the parts, and then J and I picked up the car after school on Wednesday at 1pm.

I’ll include specs later on when I actually get the chance to take a look at the car, I’ve been at school and work from 7am to 12:30am since then so didn’t even have time to take a look at all of the car. I will also post more pix.

Things need fixing: rust spots around the fenders, exhaust leak, headlights not working, powersteering leak, driver side axel possibly ripped, oil leak in pan, no stereo, a few more. Gotta check.

Hey guys, yeah it was a nice buy, I kinda felt bad for him though I know that if I didn’t act fast someone would have taken it right away. He’s a pretty cool guy too. I called him up around 1:30am that night(early morning) and told him to take it off Clist so no one would see it, and even then when I went to actually purchase it he said that two other people have called him, but they waited until morning to call, and they also threw up numbers. Hehe luckily I had paid for it already. But I’m still not sure what to do, if I should keep it as a project or a quick fix to sell and get a better alltrac (one with a newer or rebuilt engine) I want to get the rust spots off soon as possible though. I really want the HKS exhaust again but it’s nowhere to be found, not making any more, I took one of the last productions so that kinda sucks. Anyway I’m at work will add more later. Let me remind you that although it was a good find, there are plenty of little things left to do to make it good again, just the beginning hehueahuahuea evil evil

not a bad buy shorteh , thats pretty cool. i'm still in the process of looking for a winter beater myself up to about 500 bucks. That way i can store the Rex for the winter. i saw a few but i wanted something that'll be reliable, don't wanna have to mess around too much in below zero temperatures.

yeah it's hard to get a good vehicle for $500 but there are some out there, just gotta e patient.

Well I'm not sure where to go from here with the Trac. I was either thinking just to fix the stuff known, to go a step further and possibly buy newer stock maintenance parts and change some gaskets, or to go all out and do a rebuild. hehe of course the rebuild will take time and lots of money but if this is a project car it might be worth it.

a dilemma, I used to like the gray a lot but now I dunno why but I miss my red. question? would it be bad if I painted the exterior a different color then gray in the future? or would I be better off just fixing and selling until I find a red or blue? or I guess I could just wait until the gray catches me again.

if your not into the gray, i say in time just paint it. cuz even if you get another trac with the color you want, it'll most likely need to be repainted again since the car is old. (just like your pink trac... hahahaha!!!)

Yeah, just wanted my exterior to match the engine bay. But I guess that doesn't matter much. Maybe I just need to see more gray/silver cars to make me feel better hehe.

i'll have to say, gray isn't really a trac color. but none the less what matters most is you have a trac. if you plan on doing a rebuilt or swap then it'd be a perfect time to paint the bay. you might even be able to do a tuck, that would be so sweet! a tucked 3sgte!

but just remember and think about what you might be getting into. you plan on doing a full rebuild of the car! that's a lot of work, time and money. is it something your willing to do. if not then maybe it's best you sell the trac to make the extra few grand and move on from the trac... that's why you let go of the red trac in the first place right?

Updates, I took off the steering column to install the switch. Ran into some problems and the stock airbag spring popped on me. Luckily I unplugged the airbag already but still it was kinda scary.

I wish I could do a tuck but I think it would be harder in my engine bay compared to others. I'm really thinking of a rebuild but it will be done through time ie. a little here a little there. I'm doing major research on the 3sgte (when I'm not doing homework that is) and hopefully it will pay off as I start the rebuild process.

The headlight switch, the trac headlights didnt work, wouldnt stay up and lowbeams didnt work so I had to replace it.

Update: 10/30/08 Full Motoria Exchaust (dp,mp,catback $800) came in and Nuk and I spent a good chunk of time taking the old exhaust out and putting in the new one. We had to cut the back part like Paul and I did on my previous Trac as well. Man it was hard taking a 2inch one out and fitting in a 3incher, Nuk and I spent at least 20minutes pushing and pulling to get the catback through the back end. It was fairly rusty too. The new pipe looks good but needs some adjustments that I will do later on. After we decided to take the trac to McDees and it ran worse then before shrug shrug

Today 10/31/08 After school I had 15 minutes before work so I decided since I had some extra plugs from the previous Trac, that I would change the plugs. It idled better with the new plugs but unfortunetly the third plug had oil on it, so you know what that means? grrrr. anyway I didnt get to drive it cuz I was gonna be late so I hope it's a little better. O yeah...I've decided that I might want to invest in some AIR TOOLS!!! shrug

that's a link to how the exhaust looks like! it's nice, just like the hks! does it sound the same?

oil in the plugs... i have that too! i think in all my plugs now! hahahahaha... time for a motor rebuild for you shia! how much is it anyways. pistions, seals, gaskets, polish... all that?! if you rebuild it's almost guarantee the next 6 years of driving!
